Documentation

Proofbell answers one question: which marketing produced that phone call, and what was it worth? Then it sends the answer back to the ad platform, so bidding optimises on revenue rather than lead count.

How the pieces fit

Four things happen, and only the first needs anything from you:

  1. The tag swaps your phone number. A visitor arriving from a Google ad sees a different number from one arriving via organic search, so the call itself identifies the channel.
  2. The call arrives with its history attached. Channel, campaign, landing page, and the keyword where the platform reports one. It rings your normal phone — or, if you build a call flow, whichever phones your opening hours and menu choices say it should.
  3. You tell us what the call was worth. Weeks later, when the quote becomes an order, you import the value from your CRM.
  4. We push that value back to the ad platform. Not a lead count — the actual money.

Step 3 is the one that matters most and the one most people skip. Without it, Google learns that all your calls are equal, and buys more of whatever is cheapest. With it, it learns that one campaign produces £14,000 orders and another produces tyre-kickers.

What Proofbell does not do

Worth knowing before you spend time on setup, rather than after.

  • It cannot give you the keyword for every click. Google does not report keyword data for Performance Max, Shopping, Display or Demand Gen — and neither can anyone else. The full explanation, including how to see what share of your traffic is affected.
  • It does not record calls unless you turn recording on, and the legality of what you record is yours. We provide announcements, per-site settings and retention limits; we cannot know your jurisdiction.
  • Data-driven attribution needs volume. Around 100 customer journeys and 20 conversions. Below that Proofbell will tell you it is not ready rather than show you a model fitted on too little data. It is also on Scale only — the plan page says which models sit where.
  • HubSpot is the only CRM that connects directly. It is live and verified, from Pro upward. Salesforce, Pipedrive and the rest are not connectable yet, so revenue from those comes in by CSV — which works with every CRM, on every plan.
  • The free plan has no tracking number, so it has no calls. It attributes your web traffic and nothing rings — a trial of the tag rather than of call tracking. Why, and what a paid plan adds.
